UAFT Professional Standards Committee

The PSC is a committee of volunteers who belong to the UAFT professional division. The mission of the PSC is to ensure that professional qualifications and standards are being upheld on federal contracts, or on federal financed or permitted projects which include requirements for meeting the Secretary of the Interiors Standards for Archaeological Projects (36 CFR 61), or the Secretary of the Interiors Standard for the Qualifications for Cultural Resource Professionals (36 CFR 61, Appendix A). It is important to know how valuable these volunteers are to proper work on archaeological sites; because no agency of the federal government will take action to ensure that the work being done meets these standards unless a complaint is filed, and the SHPO can not legally compel compliance on their own. If you don't tell them a crime has been committed, no action can be taken. The folks of the PSC help investigate violations of professional standards and file claims with the U. S. Department of Justice.
